Hitachi Releases the Industry’s First Category 5e 50-Pair Backbone
Cable

NH October 2003: Hitachi
Cable Manchester’s family of data-grade backbone cables has
been expanded to include the industry’s first category
5e 50-pair cable approved for use in riser- and plenum-rated
applications. The cable is constructed using two bonded 25-pair
legs to facilitate cable pulling and deliver improved flexibility.
The easy-tear web design allows quick separation in the field.
These category 5e cables are fully component compliant to the
power sum backbone cable requirements specified in TIA/EIA-568-B.2
and have been certified for conformance by an independent third-party
test laboratory. Performance data is available upon request.
Category 5e 50-pair
backbone cables are packaged on 1,000 foot (305 m) reels.
The standard jacket color for CMR-rated cables is blue and the
standard jacket color for CMP-rated cables is white. Additional
jacket colors are available upon request.
